OVERVIEW

The Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3 features a unique one-pass cleaning system that first injects hot cleaning solution into the carpet, then scrubs all sides of the carpet fiber before its enhanced vacuum motor extracts your carpet’s dirt, dust and grime into the waste water reservoir. In one pass, the Rug Doctor will leave carpets clean and refreshed.

USING THE MACHINE

To clean carpet:

Mix your solution with hot water and pour into the clean water tank. Review Rug Doctor’s solutions to find the appropriate formula to target the right type of spots and meet your cleaning needs.

Move the Rug Doctor to the starting point and adjust the handle for comfort. Turn the switch to “Carpet,” press down on the red button and pull back slowly and steadily. You’ll see dirty water coming up through the see-through dome.

At the end of the pass: release the red button, pull back about six more inches, then tilt the Rug Doctor X3 back, and move to the machine to start you next pass. Repeat until you’re done.

To clean upholstery:

Mix Upholstery Solution with hot water and pour into the clean water tank. For specific spots, pre-treat with a Rug Doctor solution formulated to eliminate various types of spots, stains and discoloration.

Disconnect the black and gray vacuum hose and connect the gray cuff of the upholstery tool. Attach the solution line, and switch the machine to “Upholstery” mode. Place the tool where you want to clean, squeeze the black trigger, then pull steadily back. You’ll see dirty water coming up through the see-through dome.

You can use the upholstery tool on furniture, stairs, mattresses, car mats, car seats and more. Be sure to clean your car mats on concrete.

TroubleShooting

MACHINE NOT SPRAYING

Check to be sure there is cleaning solution and water in the lower blue tank. If dirty water stops entering the upper tank, the lower tank is empty. Your carpet should feel damp and you should see water returning into the upper white tank.

Still having problems? Be sure the machine switch is turned to “carpet” mode, then press down on the red button for 15 to 30 seconds. Feel the carpet where the machine was sitting. If the carpet is wet, you are ready to start cleaning.

Still having problems? Check the connections on the back of the machine. The grey and black vacuum hose should be in place. Pull up on the solution hose and see if it comes out of the brass connector. If it comes loose, you’ll need to secure the hose. Press down on the double brass rings, hold them down, and insert the end of the solution hose into the center of the brass connector. Snap the brass rings up to lock the hose into place. Tug on the hose again to make sure it is properly connected.

Still having problems? Pull the white tank out and set it aside. Behind where the white tank sits are 3 solution hoses: check to be sure none of them are pinched, kinked, or smashed.

If problems persist, contact Rug Doctor customer support at 1-800-RUG-DOCTOR or find a repair shop near you.

UPHOLSTERY TOOL NOT SPRAYING

To clean upholstery with your Rug Doctor X3, disconnect the black and gray vacuum hose and connect the gray cuff of the upholstery tool. Attach the solution line by pressing and holding the double brass rings down and inserting the end of the solution hose into the center of the brass connector. Snap the brass rings up to lock the hose into place. Tug on the hose to make sure it is properly connected. Switch the machine to “Upholstery” mode and begin cleaning by squeezing the black trigger and steadily pulling back. You’ll see dirty water coming up through the see-through dome.

Still having problems? When operating the handle-like trigger on the hand tool, be sure you are able to squeeze it about a ¼ of an inch or so. If not, it means there may be a problem with the valve in the tool itself. Find a repair shop near you.

LEAKING FROM REAR EXHAUST

Only Rug Doctor solutions should be used in the Rug Doctor X3 to avoid issues. Using Rug Doctor solutions be sure the water and solution mixture is in the lower blue tank, not the upper white tank.

Foam entering the clear dome indicates an excess foaming problem, which should not occur with any of Rug Doctors cleaning solutions. Watch the upper white tank and empty as needed to prevent from filling with foam.

Still having problems? The vacuum motor could have moisture inside it. Place a towel behind the exhaust hole, empty the white tank and seal the clear dome on top. Then turn on just the vacuum (not activating the brush), and let it run for 30 seconds to one minute to allow the moisture in the motor to blow out. Trying cleaning a 5-foot path with the machine, if you still see water coming out of the exhaust, repeat this procedure a second time.

Still having problems? A hose might have come loose from the inside of the machine. Find a repair shop near you.

MACHINE NOT VACUUMING

If you do not hear a loud vacuum sound when the machine is turned on, please see the troubleshooting section for No Power.

Is the area where you have been cleaning wet to the touch? If the area is wet, remove the filter from the clear dome on top of the white tank and run hot water through the filter for about 20 seconds. Before replacing the filter, turn your machine on and place your hand over the hole where the filter belongs – you should feel a strong suction. If there is not a strong suction, there is likely a problem with the machine motor. Find a repair shop near you. If there is a strong suction, replace the filter inside the clear dome, return the empty white tank to the machine, and reseal the clear dome by pulling the black wire handle over the top of the dome.

Still having problems? On the back of the machine, disconnect the grey hose, and check for a strong suction when the machine is turned on. If there is a strong suction, reconnect the vacuum hose and return to the wet area you were trying to clean. Turn the vacuum on, do not press the red button, and watch the left side of the clear dome to see if water is being extracted from the carpet and emptying into the white tank.

Still having problems? Make sure the clear dome is properly sealed onto the white tank by ensuring that the black gasket on the clear dome is flush against the clear dome. Then lower the clear dome onto the white tank, making sure the black gasket is leaving no gaps on the white tank and the restraining wire is over the top of the clear dome.

Still having problems? There might be a clog in the lower vacuum track. Find a repair shop near you.

NO POWER TO THE MACHINE

If the machine was working before, verify water is in the lower blue tank and the removable white tank is empty. Make sure the reset switch is in the ON position.

If the machine never had any power, ensure the switch on the circuit breaker located on the back of the machine is switched to the ON position. If the switch is in the OFF position, press it to the ON position and try the machine again.

Still having problems? There is a chance that the outlet you are trying to use is only rated for ten amps, while the machine requires eleven amps. Try plugging the machine into a different outlet.
